What is Music therapy?
Music therapy with families assists in strengthening the bond between parent and child, promoting positive interactions and emotional well being. Through music therapy families can experience a variety of fun ways to strengthen relationships and develop strategies for dealing with emotional and or behavioural issues. Parents will also learn how to assist with their child’s emotional, language, social, physical and cognitive development.
"Music Therapy is an allied health profession practiced throughout Australia and more than 40 countries world wide. It is the planned and creative use of music to attain and maintain specific goals relating to the individuals well being. People of all ages and abilities can participate and benefit from music therapy. There is no need to have prior music skills or background to participate. Music therapy aims to address physical, psychological, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individual in the therapeutic relationship."
